A price is not a price
until you say where it stops.
Two exporters send you the same figure per tonne for the same turmeric. One of them means FOB Nhava Sheva. The other means CIF Jebel Ali. Those are not the same offer.
Between them sit inland haulage, customs clearance, terminal handling, the ocean freight and the marine cover — costs somebody is going to pay, and it is either you or us. So this calculator asks which term you want the price on before it gives you a number, then tells you plainly what that number contains and what it leaves to you.
Where our price stops and yours begins
Incoterms 2020
Read one row at a time. FOB stops the moment the goods are over the ship's rail at the loading port; CIF carries the freight and the insurance to the port of discharge but not the risk, which passed on board. DDP is the only term where nothing is left for you to arrange.
What we ship
- Spices
- Turmeric fingers and ground turmeric, whole red chilli (S4 and Teja), cumin seed, coriander seed, black pepper.
- Seeds and grains
- Hulled and natural sesame seed, basmati and non-basmati rice.
- Packing
- PP woven bags with LDPE liners, jute where the buyer asks for it, palletised and shrink-wrapped for EU and US receivers.
Grade, moisture, purity and sterilisation method are agreed before we quote firm. If you work to a written specification, send it — we would rather price against yours than against ours.
Where we ship it
| Market | Discharge ports we quote most | What tends to matter there |
|---|---|---|
| Middle East | Jebel Ali, Dammam, Jeddah | Short transit from Nhava Sheva and Mundra, so LCL and part loads still price sensibly. |
| East and southern Africa | Mombasa, Durban | Usually whole containers. Pre-shipment inspection requirements vary by country — tell us the scheme. |
| EU and UK | Rotterdam, Hamburg, Antwerp, Felixstowe | Steam sterilisation rather than ETO fumigation, and testing against EU pesticide and aflatoxin limits. |
| United States | New York, Savannah, Houston, Los Angeles | FDA prior notice and FSVP documentation prepared with the shipment, not after it. |
If your port is not one we quote often, name it anyway — the lane is usually the easy part.
How it moves
- Sea — full container
- You take whole containers. Cheapest per tonne once you fill one.
- Sea — part container (LCL)
- Your pallets share a container. Billed on whichever is greater, weight or volume.
- Air freight
- Days rather than weeks. Billed on chargeable weight, so bulk costs as much as mass.
Worked through: what a CIF price contains
The calculator shows this ladder for whichever term you choose, with the rungs your price covers marked. It never shows what any rung cost us — that is our business, and the price is the price.

What the calculator is, and what it is not
It gives you an indicative figure — good enough to compare offers, to size a purchase, or to decide whether the lane is worth pursuing. It is not a firm offer and we do not hold it.
Ocean and air freight are re-priced by carriers weekly, and a peak-season or war-risk surcharge can move a lane inside a single sailing. Import duty depends on the classification your broker files. We commit to a price only on a formal quotation, with the Incoterm, the named place, the specification and a validity date printed on it — and we will send you one the same working day you ask.
